TOEFL Integratedスピーキング「タスク4のテンプレ」を見ていきましょう。
テンプレを活用することでレクチャーで聴き取るべきポイントに集中できます
目次：
スピーキングタスク4
TOEFL Integratedスピーキングであるタスク4はいきなり教授が話しだすトピックに関してまとめて話す内容になっています。
タスク2や3と違って読む作業がなく、いきなり聴き始めるためリスニングが鍵を握ります。タスク4は具体的には以下の流れになります。
- リスニング（レクチャー形式）
- 回答の準備（20秒）
- 回答（60秒）
解答時間も20秒とかなり短いものとなっています。予め聴きとるべきことを理解した上でこの20秒を活用することがポイントとなります。

時間配分とストラクチャー
TOEFL Integratedスピーキングタスク4の理想の時間配分とストラクチャーを確認してみましょう。
- 15秒: トピックの説明
- 20秒: 1つ目の例またはコンセプト
- 20秒: 2つ目の例またはコンセプト
- 5秒: まとめ
レクチャーはいきなりトピックの説明をしてくるので最初の1-2文はとくに注意しましょう
テンプレ
TOEFL Integratedスピーキングであるタスク4のテンプレを確認しましょう。
テンプレは問の種類によって若干変わります。タスク4には2つの問の種類があるためです。
サブトピック
メイントピックから派生したサブトピックの説明を求められる問におけるテンプレは以下になります。

- The first…
- The second…
- In summary/Therefore/Ultimately,…
冒頭でメイントピックについて述べて、そのあと紹介される2つのサブトピックについて説明する流れです。
単語のコンセプト
単語のコンセプトの説明を例を2つ上げながら行う問におけるテンプレは以下になります。

- In summary/Therefore/Ultimately,…
メイントピックをしっかり聞き取って、その後の例を2つメモできるかがポイントになりますね。

The lecture is about the Parasitism which is the relationship between a parasite and a host. The professor uses two examples to demonstrate that the parasite sometimes does harm to a host, but it will never kill the host because it feeds on the host or the host’s nutrients for survival. In the first example given by the professor was about a mistletoe plant that lives on the surface of a tree. It uses the tree’s water and nutrients to help itself grow, and therefore doing harm to the tree, but never kills it. The other example used by the professor was about fleas on a dog. Fleas live on the surface of their host and survive by drinking the blood of their host, in this case, a dog. Fleas also do harm to their host, blood loss, but also inject a poison, like mosquitoes, that causes invariable itching. Ultimately, in both examples, the parasite lived on the surface of their host and required that the host stay alive.
