今日はIELTSのライティングのReferenceの中の「指示語」について徹底的に解説します。
指示語をきちんと使うことが 7.0以上の鍵の１つになります。

IELTS のライティングの評価基準の1つにCoherence&Cohesionがあります。
IELTSライティング評価基準 :
- (TA) Task Achievement – タスク達成度 25%
- (CC) Coherence & Cohesion – 内容の一貫性 25%
- (LR)Lexical Resource – 語彙力 25%
- (GRA) Grammatical Range and Accuracy – 文法 25%
そのCCの中にReferenceという表記があります :
Referenceとは、既出の単語を重複させずに使用することです。日本語では以下3点がそれにあたります。
- 人称代名詞
- 指示語
- 類似表現
この記事では指示語に関して詳しくみていきます。人称代名詞と類似表現に関しては以下を参照にしてください。
指示語は6.0まで
CCの評価基準をスコア別に日本語でみてみましょう。
指示語という言葉が評価に入ってるのは、6.0迄です。
7.0以上では指示語はマスターしていることが前提となっていますね。
指示語と例
指示語とは、簡単にいうとthis, that, these, thoseなどの単語です。
簡単な例は以下です :
” These are sheep but those are goats.”
” That is my friend’s house.”
” Those are horses.”
” You’ll have to work harder than this. “
実際のIELTSでの例を見てみましょう :
People dispose of batteries in their normal household waste. This causes environmental damage.
このThisは何を指しているのでしょうか？
そうですね、 前文全てをさしています。
